Control of chaotic maps by optimized periodic inputs

It has been established that chaotic iterated maps can be transferred to a
periodic motion by application of periodic signals. As a next step, we
investigate the optimization of such signals with respect
to a small norm.
This method employs a cost function on
the space of periodic inputs. By means of a direct
optimization search in this space, the approach stabilizes
periodicity with small forces. The results for increasing
driving periods are compared.
